After another windy struggle Saturday, we ended our ride that day with a pleasant surprise.
Landmark we watch for every day. It's not hard as we're headed due East.
When seeing these silos in the distance, we figured they were about one and a half miles away. Distances lose all perspective out here. It was over three miles. We see a lot of silos! And our ability to judge their distance hasn't improved - so we just make a guess and double it.
A switch from horses, cows, and pigs.
There are about 60 feed lots in this area. I may become a vegetarian! Believe me, the smell is amazing!
Lunch at the local diner. Grilled cheese and tomato soup just like home.
Every time we see this forecast, we're reminded of Bill Murray on Groundhog Day.
What is it with Kansas? They have the best Mexican food we've ever eaten! Five dinners in a row now and not tired of it.
Rich and Steven would love the hot sauce.
Dad hates the picture, but I've got the camera. Best salsa ever!
Scott City - A nice little town with cute houses and lots of flowers.
I've decided the flowers are to try and make up for the feed lot smells.
When following our GPS directions, this was almost at the end of the route to our motel.
What a great ending to our ride! We thought we'd have to have our own Sacrament Meeting in the motel and here is the only LDS church for miles! We went to church in our very casual clothes and received a warm greeting. I think we should get another ten miles credit for going to church in pants and jeans.
Being able to go to church on Mother's Day was a great gift, but if that wasn't enough, Steve even gave me a present! My hero!!
Next stop Dighton or Ness City
Happy Mother's Day to all my girls and both mothers. We Love You!!
It sounds like you guys are having an amazing time even though it is very very windy. I love hearing about all the things you guys are seeing and come across. Hope you both are feeling better and Happy late Mother's Day.
